This rare run-down circa 1900 house was in disrepair and waiting to be revitalized.
These stunning one-of-a-kind townhouses were created following this complete gut-rehab. The goal was to transform this choppy house into two unique luxury condominiums. Historical Commission review by the town was required before any work could be approved on the property. The unique features of the building and multitude of exterior detailing provided the inspiration for the renovations.
Our task was to increase usable living space and provide two modern open units.
This home location receives a 96 “Walkers Paradise” score and an 81 “Excellent Transit” score. Steps away from dozens of restaurants, coffee shops and public transportation on both ‘B’ and ‘C’ MBTA green lines.
Our developer client is an accomplished cook and was very demanding about the kitchen and entertaining spaces. As they stated, “For today’s families, the kitchen is the center of the home… it’s important that a kitchen looks beautiful and inviting, but a functional design is equally important.” Another key requirement in our schematic design, keeping entertaining in mind, we remained cognizant of the natural flow from one room to another.
Design and complex approvals for the project were aided in no small part to the development team and our principal-in-charge. He previously served as Chair of a local Historical Commission and aided the Team’s focus on sensitive restoration elements of the building and property.
