The new pool house was set to form an edge of the new landscape area and not intrude on the home’s view overlooking their pond. The pool house hosts a dressing area and powder room, as well as a small kitchen, which is separated from an indoor/outdoor porch by a barn-style door. We designed an adjacent outdoor room which can be enclosed with screens at the touch of a button to allow for an outdoor feel, while still providing protection from the bugs in the evening. The floor of the porch and pool house are constructed of the same stone to match the patio surrounding the pool, enhancing the seamless transition from indoor to outdoor to pool. The strategically placed stone fireplace can be seen from the home’s dining area and allows for outdoor living even on cooler days and nights. The cedar shingles, white trim, and trellises used on the pool house captured the client’s desired Nantucket atmosphere.
