We are excited to announce that our latest project, a 76-unit multifamily development, has been officially approved by the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) in the city of Melrose. This project is a result of a collaborative effort between O’Sullivan Architects, Szecon Development, and the city of Melrose planning staff, and represents a significant contribution to the city's housing needs.

This sustainable multifamily development in Melrose is located within the Housing Production Plan Zone, and is designed to meet the city's housing goals while enhancing the surrounding neighborhood. Its proximity to the MBTA and downtown Melrose makes it an ideal location for commuters. The walkability of the area, combined with easy access to public transportation, ensures that residents can enjoy the convenience of urban living with the comfort of a suburban setting. This balance of location and accessibility is key in making this development a perfect fit for both families and professionals.

One of the standout features of this project is the emphasis on communal and lifestyle-enhancing spaces. The building will feature over 2,000 square feet of amenity spaces, including lounge areas on both the first and top floors. A roof deck will provide stunning views and additional outdoor space for residents to enjoy. These amenities are designed to foster community interaction and enhance the living experience, giving residents multiple areas to relax, socialize, and unwind.

This project is also a Passive House development, emphasizing sustainability and energy efficiency. By adhering to the rigorous standards of Passive House design, the building will achieve high levels of insulation, airtightness, and energy efficiency, ensuring lower energy consumption and a reduced environmental impact. This aligns with our ongoing commitment to responsible, forward-thinking design that benefits both the residents and the environment.

Architecturally, this project skillfully weaves together modern design elements with the existing character of the neighborhood, ensuring that the scale and aesthetic blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment. By incorporating a mix of textures and materials, the building’s design will complement the character of Melrose while offering a fresh, contemporary touch.
